Book Printing For Profit
If
you are thinking about writing a book, or
have written a book and looking to publish, the more information you
have upfront before you get too far into the process can only increase
your success rate. What you do before you publish a book determines how
book sales will go when it is published.
Most first time authors never think about this. They get excited about
writing, or having written what they think is the next bestseller, only
to discover book sales dropping and dropping, leaving them frustrated,
thinking it was all hype and that to self publish a book was a waste of
time.
What is a waste of time, not doing your homework before you leap into
something you don’t know about.
A few tips about what to write on the non-fiction side: An
Autobiography could be about someone famous, or several famous people.
It could also be a collection of personal stories from several people
sharing some commonality.
If you have an idea for children’s books, something new and
fresh, there are publishers who want to buy it. Poetry publishing would
fall into that same category. Want to learn more about making poetry
profitable as an unknown? See Book Publishing
Secrets: How to Write,
Publish and Outsell Your Competition.
If you are in a business, or profession, maybe even have a hobby; write
about what you know. These niches have untapped profit potential for
the creative writer.
Now that we have talked about what to do first, before you decide to
publish a book, lets move on to the next step: the manuscript prep. All
published books start with an idea that grows into a manuscript. What
message do you want to deliver, or what do you want to teach?
If you are going to sell on the internet, or direct, it might not be a
bad idea to know what people are searching on the internet and how your
topic and its content can piggy back on those searches for profit. Do a
Google Key Word Search of your topic, to see if there are enough
searches to create a profit.
For example, if you were writing a book about cats, type in the keyword
“cats” at google.com/sktool and what would you see.
You
might see key words like gencat, cat in the hat, ragdoll cats, cat on a
hot tin roof. These are searches but are they related to what you want
to talk about? Look for the key words related to where you want to go.
What does this show you, that at least there is a market in the
thousands and you might stand a good chance of attracting visitors and
making money.
Finish writing your book, once you know where you want to go, and your
key words will point you in the direction of where your buyers are. Now
you can create subtitles, laced with relevant key words, to increase
the potential for sales.
